There are so many advices, diets and guidelines on the internet. An average person cannot know what good and healthy diets are. Things are even worse due to diet pills and other things that should be useful. Actually, eating healthy and have a proper diet is very simple. The best thing you should do, is to follow the basic guidelines recommended by experts. For, example, you can use the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s My Plate.
You probably don’t know that USDA published many research that should help you choose the right diet. The basis of this research is related to vegetables. So, based on scientific researches, men needs 9 servings of fruit and vegetables every day. Women need a bit less, 7 servings. There is no need to explain this. You already know that fruit and vegetables contain a lot of important nutrients that are essential so your body function properly. Eat fruit and vegetables every day!
You should eat low-fat dairy. The recommended amount is consuming 3 cups of low-fat or even better, fat-free milk and yogurt. Also, you can consume the same amount of cheese and other dairy products. Eating whole grains is equally important. It should take a ¼ of your plate, for each meal. Your daily intake of fat should be 20-35% of your total calorie intake. The rest of your plate, ¼ should be filled with fish, beans, legumes and nuts. Basically, 15% of your calories should come from proteins.
