How does sugar stop you from losing weight?
There have been many studies on the effects of losing and not losing weight. It is quite widely known that sugar can actually stop someone from losing weight but how does that happen? There are many things that are known about how sugar stops someone from losing weight.
First of all, foods that are high in sugars have empty calories that actually increase the weight. Sugar, in any form, increases blood sugar levels and is one of the causes of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Most Americans take in most of their sugars in the form of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) which is used worldwide as a sweetener because it is easier to handle than granulated sugar, and the price of the raw material, corn, is lower and is a more stable commodity than sugar cane. Since the late 1990s, HFCS has been the subject of scrutiny and public concern about a possible link between high-fructose corn syrup and metabolic diseases like obesity and diabetes. Since it received FDA approval, the use of HFCS in food production has spiraled, and, at the same time, there has been an increase in the rate of obesity and diabetes throughout the United States. Today, it is the ingredient most often found in almost all canned foods, condiments and sauces (packaged, canned or bottled) and it is the main sweetener in all soft drinks.
